Amb. Rico keynotes emerging leaders seminar
Board members Ignacio Donoso, Mark Friedman, Jack Lascar, Nat Levy, Mina Sklar, and Tracy Stein along with staff Barbara Shepard and Carold Heard, saw their extensive planning efforts for the Mexican-American emerging leaders seminar  make an impact on 29 participants. Mexican Ambassador Carlos Rico, undersecretary of foreign affairs, keynoted the Saturday night dinner. The seminar was funded by Amegy Bank, Feldman Foundation, AJC and the Mexican Consulate.
Past Presidents convene
Chapter past presidents met this week at the AJC office to discuss the agency and suggest potential honorees.
Participants included: Don Brodsky,Kenny Friedman, Noel Graubart, Ann Kaufman, Rene Karpas and Tracy Stein.

AJC Global Summit - May 6-9, 2009
Hold the date and plan to attend the new and improved AJC annual meeting experience. The revised format will combine the Annual Meeting, International Leadership Conference and ACCESS track into a seamless four-day event - the Global Summit. There will be a new format for sessions, offering more opportunities for personal interaction among attendees. Details will follow in the weeks ahead. For now, please plan to join us in Washington for the entire AJC Global Summit, which will open on Wednesday, May 6, with a rollicking concluding event after Shabbat on May 9.
Sderot, Ashkelon Teens Thank AJC for Hi-Tech Camp
AJC's Israel Emergency Assistance Fund made it possible for 40 Israeli teenagers from Ashkelon, Sderot and surrounding areas that had been targets of Gaza-fired missiles to attend eCamp, the first international technology summer camp in Israel. The students share their experiences in a video prepared by Oranim Educational Initiatives, which organized the camp and involved Google, Microsoft and other major technology leaders. Watch video
Lutheran-AJC Conference in Washington
Over one hundred people attended a daylong conference on "Land and Promise: Jewish and Lutheran Perspectives on Israel The Holy Land," sponsored by AJC's Washington Chapter and the Metropolitan Washington D.C. Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The conference included keynote presentations by Rabbi David Rosen (AJC) and the Rev. Dr. Peter Pettit (Muhlenberg College). The speakers discussed theological perspectives related to the land of Israel in both Jewish and Christian traditions and texts.

Board Profile
Dena Palermo is an attorney at Andrews Kurth and is active on the Chapter's International Affairs Commission. A former Chapter vice president, she is still active in consular visits and consular training seminars. A graduate of Boston University School of Law, she is also active in the Houston Bar Association.
