AJC Expresses Grief and Outrage over Mumbai Terrorist Attacks
 
MumbaiThe Chapter hosted a solidarity briefing Monday with diplomats, elected officials, and Indian and Jewish community leaders to express outrage over the terrorist attacks in Mumbai that targeted America, Britain and the Jewish people.  New Indian Consul General Sanjiv Arora, Israel mumbai2Consul General Asher Yarden and Britain's Vice Consul Mitch Jeffrey joined Congressman Al Green, a member of the US Homeland Security Committee, in the briefing before Houston area media.   Pictured above are Consul General Yarden, Rep. Above left:  Consul General Arora and Rabbi Moishe Traxler of Chabad Lubavitch talk after the briefing.  Rabbi Traxler, Randy Czarlinsky, AJC Executive Director, Nat Levy, Chair of the Chapter's intergroup/interfaith commission, and Jagat Kamdar, co-Chair of AJC's Indo-Jewish dialogue participated in the briefing.

The Chapter's Mumbai message was also carried in the Houston Chronicle's VIEWPOINTS section in a piece written by Tracy Stein, AJC Houston Chapter Board President.
 
30 diplomats participate in Chapter's Chanukah party
06 logoThe Chapter hosted its annual Consular Corps 06 logoChanukah Party on Thursday at the home of Scottie and Andrew Kant.  More than 70 Board members and diplomats enjoyed conversation and desserts.Indo and Schechter
Pictured are diplomats and Chapter members.  The annual Chanukah party provides diplomats and board members an opportunity to socialize, discuss issues, and get together in an informal setting.                         
 
AJC Meets Argentine President, Other Top Officials, in Buenos Aires and BrazilTracy in Brazil

Delegation meets with Rep. elect Pete Olson
Mark Friedman, David Barish and Randy Czarlinsky met with Congressman elect Pete Olson this week.  Energy, the Middle East and immigration reform were discussed.

The Mexican Consulate invited Mark Friedman, Barbara Shepard and Randy Czarlinsky to be their luncheon guests at Money Week featuring the US Treasurer at UH's main campus.
