AJC Radio Message: Iran - The Nuclear Threat Becomes Reality
"Iran has ignored repeated UN resolutions on its nuclear program. And Iran flaunts its ballistic missile program, which could one day include nuclear warheads," says David Harris in his national radio commentary on the CBS radio network. "Iran cannot be allowed to thumb its nose at the will of the international community. If that radical regime gets the bomb, we could all pay a heavy price."LISTEN

AJC Launches "Durban II Countdown"

Durban II Countdown is a new online AJC resource for news, links, and commentary in the run-up to the Durban Review
Conference, taking place April 20-25 in Geneva. Will the struggle against racism again be derailed by those who'd rather vilify Israel and stifle free speech instead? The Houston Chapter is in communication with Houston area EU consulates urging their governments to follow the lead of Canada, America and Italy and pull out of the conference. AJC Rejects Charles Freeman's "Scapegoating" of Pro-Israel Community
AJC rejected charges made by Ambassador Charles Freeman blaming the "Israel Lobby" for his decision to withdraw his acceptance of the position of chair of the National Intelligence Council.
"The only 'libels' and 'smears' here are Freeman's tired clichés about a nefarious 'Israel Lobby' that stifles debate," said AJC Executive Director David A. Harris. "In truth, it's Freeman, a charter member of the Saudi Fan Club, who wanted the debate to be silenced - since he found himself on the losing side once it started. If Freeman's conspiratorial rant reflects the quality of his analysis and his temperament under pressure, it's just further evidence that he wasn't the right man for this critical job."

AJC Testimony Urges Congress to Pass Iran Sanctions Act
American Jewish Committee (AJC) urged Congress today to adopt the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act (HR 1327) as an effective tool to press Tehran to desist from its quest to achieve nuclear capability.

Testifying before the House Financial Services Subcommittee on International Policy and Trade, Jason Isaacson, AJC's director of government and international affairs, called for divestment from companies operating in Iran's critical energy sector.
