Diplomats representing countries from every region acrosswac logo the globe participated in AJC Houston's annual Consular Corps Chanukah Party Thursday night at the Blankfeld home.  The annual event brings together diplomats and AJC board members for conversation.  More than 30 diplomatsccorps09 attended.

Leading Academic Publisher Fails to Correct Zionism Article
AJC strongly criticized a leading academic publisher for its decision to retain an article vilifying Zionism in an encyclopedia dealing with racism.
The Encyclopedia of Race and Racism, published in 2008 by Macmillan Reference USA, a part of Gale, Cengage Learning, contains an article on "Zionism" by Noel Ignatiev, a bitter opponent of Israel.

Berlin Ceremony to Celebrate 15 Years of AJC, German Armed Forces Partnership
AJC and the German Ministry of Defense will celebrate 15 years of partnership at a ceremony, in Berlin, on December 8. German Defense Minister Dr. Karl-Theodor Freiherr zu Guttenberg and AJC Executive Director David Harris will address the event.

AJC Decries Shameful Assaults on Christian Clergy in Jerusalem

In a letter to Israel's minister for public security, AJC expressed dismay over the incidents of some religious Jews spitting on Christian clergy in the Old City of Jerusalem. The full text of the letter follows.READ

AJC is actively engaged in the domestic and international scene as a GLOBAL JEWISH ADVOCACY organization. 
AJC President elect Jack Lascar will participate in the Indian community's Remembering 26/11 Mumbai at India House on Saturday.
 
Rhona Konig, Jack Lascar and Randy Czarlinsky met with Spain's Consul General His Excellency Miguel Ángel Fernández de Mazarambroz Bernabeu this week to discuss Spain's upcoming six month presidency of the EU, Iran and a photographic exhibit of Sephardic Jewry.
Helene Zadok and Iris Mushin continued advance work for the AJC/Holocaust Museum Houston UN Holocaust Victim Observance on Jan. 27.
 
Thank you to Alan Livingston for getting together this week to discuss AJC and the Middle East.
 
Final preparations are being made for next Thursday's Max Nathan award dinner honoring Joe Williams.  The Emery/Weiner Instrumental Class will provide music at the reception.   Vikki Evans of FTK/Video put the final edits of the video together this week.
