Isaacson outlines Iranian threat, upcoming sanctions votes before consular corps, private briefings
AJC director of international and government affairs briefed the third largest diplomatic corps in America Thursday at the Four Seasons Hotel. Jason Isaacson, who has held the director position for 19 years, said the UN Security Council will discuss and vote on tough sanctions in early March. The European Union, he said, will take up similar discussions after the UN vote.
Issacson, who also briefed more than 65 members of the Jewish community in small and private gatherings during his two day Houston visit, outlined AJC's global reach and effect in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and potential positive expectations in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.
He also assessed the situations in France, Turkey, India, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Morocco and Qatar. Prior to Isaacson's address, AJC Houston international affairs chair Iris Mushin recognized the 35 diplomats attending the luncheon. AJC president elect Jack Lascar concluded the luncheon thanking departing Consuls General from Israel, Egypt and Mexico for their friendship and honest conversations.
