Immigration reform, diversity feature at Institute of Human Relations award honoring Woo
AJC Houston will honor Don Woo of Mission Constructors on Wednesday evening, March 24 at the Omni Houston Hotel and present a conversation on the changing diversity of America and the issues surrounding immigration reform.  Woo has invited presidential policy advisor Charles Foster, of FosterQuan, and former head of the US Census Dr. Steve Murdock, professor of sociology at Rice University, to present their analysis.  Tickets and reservations may be made by calling 713 439 1202.
 
AJC Annual Meeting in DC
In 48 hours, participants will engage in many of the cross-cutting issues that matter most. Top government officials, analysts, diplomats, journalists, know the place to be April 28-30 is AJC annual meeting at the Grand Hyatt.  Twelve participants from Houston have registered.  The Houston delegation will also have lunch on the Hill with the Houston Congressional delegation.  Representatives John Culberson, Al Green, Gene Green, Sheila Jackson Lee, Pete Olson and Ted Poe have confirmed their participation. The Congressional delegation is also invited to Thursday evening gala program featuring Ehud Barak, Israel's minsiter of defense, and Miguel Morantinos, Spain's foreign minister,
 
AJC Hails Biden's Tel Aviv Address
AJC hailed Vice President Joseph Biden's milestone speech on Middle East policy at Tel Aviv University today. Biden is the most senior Obama Administration official to visit Israel.READ
 
AJC Mourns Passing of Sheikh Mohammed Sayed Tantawi

Amb. Rice addresses AJC
Ambassador Susan Rice, the U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN, addressed a luncheon for AJC Board members and special guests at AJC Headquarters in New York this week.  Her briefing assessed Iran's continued climb for nuclear capacity and an analysis of UN actions.  If passed, this would be the fourth time the UN Security Council has voted for sanctions against Iran.
 
AJC ACCESS Completes Mission to India
AJC's ACCESS New Generation Program has completed a ten day visit to India. Staffed by AJC's Asia Institute Director Jim Busis and AJC ACCESS and former Houstonian Kelly Ramot, the delegation engaged in discussions with India's political leaders, diplomats, journalists and members of the Jewish community.READ

AJC is actively engaged in the domestic and international scene as a GLOBAL JEWISH ADVOCACY organization. 
 
AJC Houston international affairs commission members are reaching out to diplomats to participate in Passover seders.
 
Dinner chair Beth Williams Lee, AJC executive committee members and staff continued reaching out to secure support for the March 24 AJC dinner honoring Don Woo.
 
AJC Houston continues to work with Mike Cole, head of the Presbytery of the New Covenant in Houston as The Presbytery USA General Assembly Middle East Study group creates its study guides for churches.
 
One of Israel's foremost commentators, Yossi Klein Halevi, provided his analysis of Vice President Biden's Israel visit to AJC national and regional leaders on Friday.  He lauded Biden's "extraordinary speech and the single best speech that any US leader has given to Israel." Halevi added that Biden did not succeed in assuring the Israeli public on Iran.  "If Iran is allowed to go nuclear, it will be the end of this generation's peace process.  Hamas and Jihadist forces will emerge as the winners," he added.
