Israel Shaping the Future
AJC Houston will present Israel Shaping the Future on Monday evening, May 17 that focuses on Israeli technology affecting medicine, energy and hi tech.  The program, which includes a short AJC annual meeting and the presentation of the Schechter/Zeidman Jewish Teen Advocacy Award, will feature panelists from MD Anderson, Boeing and Better Place.
 
The panel discussion will focus on MD Anderson's and Israel's Sheba Hospital recent oncology agreement for research and treatment, Boeing's use of Israeli technology to secure the Texas border and Better Place's initiative on the electric car and charging grids.
 
The evening program, which will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas - Houston Branch, will also feature a reception with Israeli wines.The program is being co-sponsored by Noble Energy and Greenberg Traurig, LLB.  Because of security at the Federal Reserve's, pre-registration is required.
 
The Steering Committee, of Max Blankfeld, AmyGoldstein, Jack Lascar, Melanie Lowther, Iris Mushin, David Ronn and Dr. Rob Zurawin is putting the program.

AJC Welcomes Clinton's Affirmation Of U.S. Bond With Israel
AJC expressed appreciation for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's reaffirmation today of the "close, unshakable bond between the United States and Israel and between the American and Israeli people."

AJC Urges U.S. Administration to Halt Public Denunciations of Israeli Government
AJC urged the Obama Administration to call a halt to its public denunciations of the Israeli government and return to the use of language befitting the close relations between Washington and Jerusalem.READ
OUTREACH
 AJC is actively engaged in the domestic and international scene as a GLOBAL JEWISH ADVOCACY organization. 
 
AJC's 2010 annual meeting in Washington takes place April 28-30.  Registration, with a special discount until April 1, is still open. The Dutch foreign minister, one of Israel's best friends in the world, will be participating in the Thursday night gala program along with Israel's defense minister and Spain's foreign minister. The Dutch foreign minister currently holds the position as the EU Presidency.
REGISTER NOW  Texans participating in the AJC Annual meeting in Washington are also invited to participate in AJC Houston's luncheon on Thursday, April 29th on Capitol Hill.
 
AJC's Board met this week with Israel Consul General Asher Yarden to discuss the issues and ramifications of the recent public exchanges between the Israeli and American administrations.
 
AJC Houston has created the Schechter/Zeidman Jewish Teen Advocacy Award to recognize advocacy efforts for Israel by a Houston area Jewish teen or Jewish teen group.  The award is named for Ambassador Arthur Schechter and Fred Zeidman, two of the community's prominent advocates on the local and national scene for Israel.  Both men have been honored by AJC with its National Institute of Human Relations Award.  Rabbis, youth directors, principals and counselors have been provided packets for nominations.  If you would like to recommend someone, please contact AJC 713 4391202 for a packet.  Nominations are due on April 15.
 
AJC Board member and officer Susan Altschuler is heading up our board outreach in inviting the diplomatic corps to a Passover Seder.

Our Wednesday, March 24 Institute of Human Relations Award dinner honoring Don Woo will feature a special conversation with two of America's analysts on diversity and immigration reform -- Charles Foster and Dr. Steve Murdock.  Special thanks to Don's Mission Constructors family for their help in making the evening a special one.
 
Jason Isaacson, AJC director of international and government affairs, briefed AJC across the country today to assess the last nine days of issues regarding US/Israel relations.  Jason represented AJC at a very small meeting with Vice President Biden and national security council staff prior to the Israel visit.  AJC has visited and communicated with Members on Capitol Hill to urge focus on real issues, real threats and common issues.
