Israel Joins the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) voted unanimously last week to invite Israel to join the group, along with Estonia and Slovenia. In its meetings with diplomats, AJC Houston delegations have thanked the respective government for its vote. READ

OUTREACH
 
AJC is actively engaged in the domestic and international scene as a GLOBAL JEWISH ADVOCACY organization. 
 
The International Affairs Commission met to plan diplomatic outreach for the coming year.  Participating in the discussion were Steve Brown, Noel Graubart,  Ann Kasman, Matt Krohn, Dena Palermo, Helene Zadok and staff.  Besides the individual advocacy meetings with America's third largest diplomatic corps, AJC Houston will host its annual Consular Corps Chanukah party, the UN Holocaust Obserance for diplomats on Jan. 27 and the consular corps luncheon in the Spring.  The Commission also plans to create a First Tuesday morning session beginning in October that will feature a diplomat to discuss pertinent issues in his/her home country.
 
Carol Emery, Dena Palermo, Richard Shaw, Martin Siegel, Helene Zadok and staff met as part of the Domestic/Jewish Communal Affairs Commission to discuss issues and priorities that focused on energy, immigration and advocacy outreach.
 
Syma Levy, Ilene Kramer, Jack Lascar and staff met to discuss outreach plans for the Development Commission.
