Houston briefings July 12-13
Changing Mideast dynamics affect communities, relationships
AJC's  director of the division on the Middle East and International Terrorism will brief multiple forums during a two-day visit on July 12-13.  The director, Yehudit Barsky, is the author of AJC's Series on Terrorism, which includes reports on Al-Qa`ida, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad. She regularly briefs media, law enforcement agencies and Jewish communities on the implications of terrorism on U.S. policy.  Her visit here includes an AJC Houston board outreach briefing assessing the current situation for the Jewish community in Turkey on Monday, and a World Affairs Council Houston/AJC briefing on the Changing Dynamics in the Middle East on Tuesday night.

Immigration Task Force
Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia will host, next week, the immigration task force that AJC Houston initiated and created earlier this year with representatives from business, education, ethnic, faith, law enforcement and community leadership.  The AJC Bridge America Project initiative is funded by the Ford Foundation.

The new sanctions were approved at today's EU summit in Brussels. The sanctions include a ban on investments, technical assistance and technology transfers to Iran's key oil and gas industry.
