AJC is the world's leading Jewish non-government organization (NGO) engaged in international diplomacy. In Houston, home to the third largest diplomatic corps (80+ consulates) in the country, AJC Houston meets regularly with Consuls General raising concerns about relations with Israel, Jewish communities abroad and human rights. Relationships are built between AJC Houston and the diplomatic community through private conversations, delegation visits to the consulates, diplomats participating in AJC international programs and networking.

Throughout 2009 the AJC Houston International Affairs Commission and office staff organized annual events which included:

  • The Consular Corps luncheon:  February 4, 2009 with guest speaker Martin Indyk discussing Diplomacy in the Middle East
  • Consular Corps Chanukah party which was held on December 3, 2009 at the home of Deisi and Max Blankfeld.
  • The Consulate/United Nations Holocaust Remembrance Day on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Co-Chaired by Iris Mushin and Helene Zadok.
